EvoShield Appears Behind the Dish at 2021 Home Run Derby

A set of limited edition EvoShield catcher’s gear made an appearance behind the plate on Monday night in Denver, Colorado. While Major League Baseball sluggers launched moonshots to the outer reaches of Coors Field, each Home Run Derby catcher wore custom EvoShield catcher’s gear, the official Catcher’s Gear of Major League Baseball. Bullpen catchers from the Colorado Rockies and Tampa Bay Rays, as well as Ippei Mizuhara, the interpreter for Angels’ superstar Shohei Ohtani, all wore a custom purple and black EvoShield Pro-SRZ Catcher’s Chest Protector and EvoShield Pro-SRZ Catcher’s Leg Guards. Two of the catchers wore a custom All Star Game-themed EvoShield Pro-SRZ Catcher’s Helmet behind the plate.

Designed specifically for Monday night’s event, the custom EvoShield Pro-SRZ Catcher’s Helmet featured a purple and black colorway to celebrate the host franchise, the Colorado Rockies. Keeping with the Denver theme, images of the Rocky Mountains appeared on the forehead and both sides of the helmet.

EvoShield designed the custom Purple and Black helmet in collaboration with The Barn Creative, a Delaware-based branding agency niched in the sports world. Throughout the design process, EvoShield and The Barn Creative sought to showcase Colorado’s famous Rocky Mountains and the Rockies’ signature purple and black team colors. After reviewing multiple designs, the team opted for the final look that catchers wore during the 2021 Home Run Derby. This final design showed off just how custom EvoShield catcher’s helmets could be, and it paired well with the rest of the gear while also paying tribute to the event location.
