Meet the EvoShield Gel-To-Shell Protective Hat Insert

Learn about a pitcher’s best friend, designed with Gel-to-Shell® Technology

Who says EvoShield is just for hitters? With the Gel-to-Shell Protective Hat Insert, pitchers can stay locked in on racking up outs without worrying about hard-hit comebackers and screaming line drives. Crafted with the same transformative Gel-to-Shell™  Technology found in the Pro-SRZ lineup of guards, this protective hat insert delivers low-profile coverage on the mound and in the field.

EvoShield created more than five iterations of the Gel-to-Shell insert, working to streamline its size and construction while maintaining the integrity of the Gel-to-Shell material. The final product, once molded inside a cap, is lightweight, form-fitting and hardly noticeable.

“When it’s formed to you, you honestly forget that it’s there, which is the point,” said EvoShield Industrial Designer Drew Tryner. “Our Gel-to-Shell tech offers us a very unique ability to create a hard barrier between the player’s head and the ball.”

The EvoShield Protective Hat Insert offers unique, streamlined protection against hard-hit balls without adding bulk. The Gel-to-Shell Technology shield molds around the forehead and temples inside a cap to provide lightweight protection that is perfectly customized to the user. Unlike previous oversized head protection offerings, the EvoShield Gel-to-Shell Protective Hat Insert delivers a baseball cap liner in a minimalistic look, so only the person wearing the insert will know it's there.

“Personally, I wanted to create a piece that would become one with the hat. We have the technology to really change the market and attract MLB players to utilize our hat inserts,” said EvoShield Player Insights Specialist Corey Williams. “We had great response when we took them to spring training and showed the pitchers the product.”

This pitcher’s head protection is designed to be invisible, both visually and psychologically. To mold the protective hat insert, pitchers clip the lightweight Gel-to-Shell material to the inside of the cap, then wear the hat as normal. After 30 minutes, the insert transforms into a hard, ultralight shield, an unobtrusive barrier to deflect line drives. The sleek shield delivers protection to the players and peace of mind to parents. Perfect for young baseball players just starting to pitch and field their positions, the Gel-to-Shell Protective Hat Insert provides an extra line of defense while learning the ropes.

“I can see this item being worn by not only pitchers,” Williams said, “but also infielders at a young age.” The full user guide for the Protective Hat Insert can be found HERE.
