Nine #EvoGenerals compete in Athletes Unlimited Softball

Learn about Ali Aguilar, Aubree Munro and the other #EvoGenerals in Athletes Unlimited Softball.

The world’s top fastpitch players are gathering for the Athletes Unlimited Softball League in Rosemont, Illinois, and nine EvoShield athletes are competing in the league’s 2021 campaign. EvoGenerals Ali Aguilar, Aliyah Andrews, Sis Bates, Amanda Chidester, Courtney Gano, Aubree Munro, Aleshia Ocasio, Kelsey Stewart and Anissa Urtez took the field Saturday, August 28, to launch the five-week softball season.

Throughout the season, players change teams weekly and have opportunities to accumulate individual and team points. The league will rank players individually based on points earned.

Two-way player Aleshia Ocasio, who splits time between pitching and playing the outfield, returns to Athlete’s Unlimited for round two after placing 11th overall in the 2020 season. The EvoGeneral hit .423 with four extra-base hits in year one, and she is back for more in 2021.

Aguilar, Chidester, Munro and Stewart will begin the Athletes Unlimited season just a month after claiming the Silver Medal in fastpitch softball at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Aguilar is appearing in her first Athletes Unlimited season, and she will step up to the plate with her EvoShield Pro-SRZ Elbow Guard and Wrist Guards.

Munro, USA Softball’s starting catcher at the Olympics, is playing her second Athletes Unlimited season in 2021. The University of Florida product dominated behind the dish with her EvoShield Pro-SRZ catcher’s gear in 2020, throwing out two would-be base stealers. Chidester, a super-utility player who appears all over the diamond, will don her EvoShield catcher’s gear when playing behind the plate.

Stewart, another former University of Florida standout, is competing in her second season of Athletes Unlimited play. After hitting a walk-off home run against Japan in the Tokyo Olympic Games, Stewart is looking to continue her success with the bat in Rosemont.

Anissa Urtez is stepping up to the plate at Athletes Unlimited after putting up an elite performance with Mexico at the Tokyo Olympics. Urtez hit the first Olympic home run in Mexico softball history, and she earned All-Olympic Softball Team honors for her play at shortstop.

Courtney Gano is making her Athletes Unlimited debut in 2021. The EvoGeneral and former Washington standout won a Gold Medal at the 2018 Japan Cup with USA Softball.

Rookies Sis Bates and Aliyah Andrews are the newest EvoGenerals, and they are playing in their first Athletes Unlimited seasons after completing exceptional college careers. Bates, the University of Washington’s all-time hits leader, earned All-Pac-12 First Team honors after hitting .389 with 18 extra-base hits in 2021. Andrews, a dominant outfielder at Louisiana State University, is launching her professional career after hitting .365/.419/.479 to earn First Team All-SEC honors in 2021.
